HealingLow Cost Health Insurance Coverage
Medical care has become increasingly necessary recently as people have grown more and more health conscious and practical. However, paying for much-needed medical care can be very expensive, and naturally, people would want to get the best value for their money. After all, health is wealth.
An overview of insurance
When applying for an insurance policy, one of the first things insurance policy providers will do is make you take a physical examination. This examination will determine how risky a client you are: people who drink, smoke, and get no exercise are more at risk than those who do not. Other factors such as occupation may also be a factor. You may live a healthy lifestyle, but if you have a particularly hazardous occupation like firefighting or police work, then you are also inclined to be a health risk. All these factors determine the amount policy providers will ask you to pay on a regular basis. This is called the premium. This amount will keep your account active with the policy provider, making you eligible to receive all the benefits they offer.
Benefits of health insurance
One of the biggest benefits of having a health insurance policy is reimbursement of the cost of hospitalization. In exchange for paying your regular premium, policy providers will pay for a portion of your hospitalization cost, usually after you pay your deductible. This deductible is the initial amount you have to pay after which the policy provider will shoulder the cost of the rest. For example, if you are confined for three weeks and the deductible on your policy is five days, then your policy will cover the sixteen days of your stay in the hospital after you pay for the first five. In general, the higher your premium, the lower your deductible. For instance, a single policy provider may offer you two different policies: the first requiring you to pay, say, $10 a month in premiums, with a deductible of ten days on your hospital bill, and the second requiring you to pay a premium of, say, $30 with a deductible of two days. It is up to you to decide which one will fit your budget better. If you foresee having to be hospitalized for a long period of time, then perhaps the second option will be better for you. On the other hand, if you think you live a generally healthy lifestyle and not really at risk of getting hospitalized, then the first option would be more beneficial.
Some other benefits most policy providers offer include doctor's visit and medication subsidies, coverage for additional family members, and home care assistance. Talk to the insurance agents about these details for more information.
